Western Australian batsman Adam Voges has missed out on a chance to play for Australia in South Africa after opting to stay in Perth to get married.

He will be replaced by Marcus North in the limited overs squad, with Cricket Australia deciding not to allow Voges to take part in the tour and fly home for his wedding.

Voges says while he is comfortable with the decision it could have an impact on his future in the Australian cricket team.

"There's certainly no guarantees that I'm going to get selected again," he said.

"I fully understand that and I realise that and I guess now it's up to me to play well enough to get another opportunity and hopefully I'm good enough to do that.

"I've wanted to play for Australia since ... I could walk basically or since I started playing cricket. I've had a little taste of being able to represent Australia and look I hope that I get another chance."
