Paul Roos has confirmed Daniel Bradshaw won't play in Sunday's elimination final against Carlton at ANZ Stadium - but the veteran forward could return the following week if the Swans are still alive.
Bradshaw, who has not played an AFL match since Round 9, made his return for the Swans reserves on Saturday.
And while initial reports suggested the 31-year-old's injury-plagued season is over after he limped from the field in the third quarter, Roos is adamant the former Brisbane Lion did not aggravate his troublesome knee.
'Braddy, we think will play again this week in the seconds which is a positive, and then obviously depending on what happens after that, we might all be finished on Sunday,' Roos said.
'I read (the newspapers) and I thought he was going in for an operation - I was going to send some flowers off to the hospital.'
'I don't know where that came from. I've just spoken to the medical staff and they said the expectation was he was going to play about 60-65 minutes.'
'They also expected his knee to be a bit sore because he hasn't played for a while. He was sore Saturday night, pulled up better Sunday morning and pulled up better today, so we just expect him now to train during the week and play a little bit more game time on the weekend.'
'There's a temptation (to play him this week) because he's such a good player but I think the medical staff need to be confident, he needs to be confident and ideally we need to give him another run just to see how he's going and then hopefully we're still alive next week.'
Meanwhile, Roos is confident ruckman Shane Mumford (knee), midfielder Daniel Hannebery (back) and defender Tadhg Kennelly (knee) will all return for the do-or-die clash.
'We'd expect Tadhg, Mummy and Hanners to play,' Roos said.
'Given it's a Sunday game, I suspect they'll all get named in the team but we still have to train Friday.'
'So those three should come in but they still need to get through training so we'll name an extended squad and after Friday#8217;s session we'll make a decision as to who's in and who's out.'
Midfielder Ben McGlynn, who suffered a fractured cheekbone against Fremantle two weeks ago, will also be given until later in the week to prove his fitness but is unlikely to play.
'I haven't seen Benny, he went down to Melbourne and I think he's got a funeral tomorrow so we're not going to push him,' the coach said.
'We'll obviously have a better idea when he gets back and being a Sunday game it helps, but he'll have to be 100 percent confident and he's probably less than a 50-50 (chance of playing), but that's an uneducated guess at this stage.'
The in-form Swans easily accounted for the Blues by 39 points at Etihad Stadium in Round 16 and are heavy favourites to repeat the dose this weekend.
But Roos remains wary of Brett Ratten's men.
'When they're playing their best, they're one of the most dangerous sides in the competition,' he said.
'A little bit like us I think Carlton are a team that needs all their players playing well, even though they've got some genuine superstars.'
'And I think when they've got 22 contributors they can beat teams like Geelong. I think we're very evenly matched sides so it should be an extremely good game.'
