Serbian tennis sensation Novak Djokovic has pipped Australian cyclist Cadel Evans to be named Laureus sportsman of the year.

Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic has taken out yet another gong, beating the likes of Cadel Evans to be named the Laureus sportsman of the year in London.
Serbia's No.1-ranked star, who has won four of the past five grand slams, became the sixth tennis player to win the award in the past eight years.

Kenyan distance runner Vivian Cheruiyot was named sportswoman of the year, with Australia's Sally Pearson not nominated despite being named IAAF's female athlete of the year.
Champions League-winning Spanish football side FC Barcelona beat New Zealand's World Cup-winning All Blacks to be named team of the year.
Golfer Rory McIlroy won the breakthrough of the year award, while Kelly Slater was named action sportsperson of the year for the fourth time, and South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius took out the award for sportsperson of the year with a disability.
