The world's top golfer Tiger Woods has arrived in Melbourne ahead of this week's Australian Masters at Kingston Heath.

His plane landed shortly before 10:00am AEDT at Essendon Airport.

Woods last played in the Masters as a 21-year-old in 1997.

Woods finished tied for sixth yesterday at the Champions tournament in Shanghai, five shots behind the winner, world number two Phil Mickelson.
