The 2010 NRL Indigenous All Star Game will double as a trial for a new "double try" rule, with teams permitted to forgo the regular conversion kick in favour of a single, regular-tackle play at another four-pointer.

The game will showcase further rule changes including, the use of four referees, coaches with microphones and video referee's decisions being explained on air.

Following a similar line of thinking to the AFL, the NRL appears to be utilising the Indigenous All Star Game as a legitimate trial for future inclusion of these changes into the NRL season proper, whilst providing the added entertainment for the punters a-la Twenty/20 cricket.

All Star team coach Wayne Bennett was on hand at the unveiling of these new rules to launch the fan voting that will select his All-star team for February's blockbuster.

Voting is now open on the NRL web site with 16 players to be selected to join the Australian and New Zealand captains and vice captains in the squad of 20.
