FIFA should not introduce technology into the game despite the outcry over the error that ended Ireland’s World Cup hopes following a handball by French captain Thierry Henry, according to former Socceroos skipper Paul Wade.
The already infamous Henry handball prompted a global FIFA meeting to be held next week to discuss the introduction of video replays, but Wade said human error should remain part of the game.
"I hope they don’t because I think the game should be played the same at the highest level as it is at park football," Wade told BigPond Sports Weekend.
"I don’t think the adoption of technology has worked in rugby league. They look at it for a long time and still can’t get it right.
"There’s a human element to football and the rulings of the officials are a big part of that whether right or wrong, but that’s football."
