NFL player insures hair for $1m

NFL player Troy Polamalu has had his hair insured by a shampoo company for $US1m.

Polamalu, a defender for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been tackled at least once by his trademark long hair which hangs down his back.

Polamalu's flowing locks won him a sponsorship deals for Procter Gamble's brands in the US, who have since taken out the insurance policy with Lloyd's in London

Information on the kind of damage covered by the policy was not released by the insurer.
